01 / Catalytic Project
Catalytic frames our work as researchers and different players in the scientific sector, with the aim of making the current model of R+D a fairer, more sustainable and efficient system that ensures patient access to medicine without compromising the sustainability of health services. In 2015 we have continued working with those researchers who speak out in public on their commitment. We have organised a dialogue with researchers in Amsterdam to explore the vision of one of the most active and progressive European countries in this regard. We have worked to develop a framework of public interest criteria that could be incorporated into the Spanish public science system in order to resolve many of the current problems in regard to the management of intellectual property or the commercialisation of research results.
02 / European Alliance for Responsible Research
and Accessible Medicine
In March, the first meeting of the European Alliance for responsible research and Accessible Medicine took place in Madrid. More than 40 activists from all over Europe joined us to establish the organisational and strategic foundations of this platform.
03 / Hepatitis C
The crisis in accessing medicine for Hepatitis C in Spain and Europe reached its peak in 2015. Salud por Derecho became part of the mobilisation of patients affected, developing a continuous dialogue with the political parties in Spain and Europe with the aim of framing this problem of expensive medicine as a systematic rather than standalone problem. As a result, many involved in politics have committed themselves to solutions such as the use of obligatory licenses, modifying the fixed price system and transforming the innovation model of medicine.
We were with Samanta Villar in her programme Conexión Samanta: La bolsa o la vida, explaining the problem of Sovaldi prices.
